Good morning everyone and welcome back to the work week!

While you are at work, or possibly in class, check out what all of these blogs/posts are all about.  It’s simple check out www.runmarkrun.com and just browse around and see how three guys running can make a difference.

I am very thankful this morning to wake up to the news that the presidential elections of Haiti went off with relative peace.  This is a bright spot in a country that has endured so much in the past year.  Elections in Haiti are rarely peaceful and rarely do they go off without a problem.

In terms of running, I will be running about 6 miles today on the roads and I am praying that my shins don’t start hurting again.  I have dealt with numerous stress fractures to both of my shins and I have been experiencing minor pains and aches in the spots that have provided me with trouble.    I took off over the weekend to let them heal a bit in hopes that this time off will have subdued any inflammation.

Wish me luck!     God Bless

Elections and Aristide are the hot topics in Haiti this weekend!

For those of you who do not know, this weekend will be an important one in Haiti, finally time to find out who will be the next President.  The election will pit the two run-off winners against each other to see who will replace Rene Preval as President.  The two run off winners, Mirlande Manigat and Michel Martelly, will vie to return order to this nation devasted by disease, poverty, and destruction.   Added to the difficult situation that is elections in Haiti will be the arrival of former and ousted President Jean-Betrand Aristide.  Aristide served two partial terms in Haiti only to be ousted in coups both times.  The last two months have seen the arrival of two former leaders of Haiti, Duvalier and Aristide.  I pray that everyone reading this realizes the difficulties Haiti has during times of election, this year will be difficult with all of these outside circumstances.  Pray that this weekend goes smoothly and that the people have Haiti may finally have a leader who is committed to the WHOLE population and who resists the urge of corruption.   Please check out www.runmarkrun.com and see how you can help the Haitian population that gets largely ignored, the Northwest Territory population!

In terms of running which is so very trivial compared to the upcoming events, I have been running consistant 5-6 mile days.  Today i will attempt 6 miles on this beautiful 72 degree day.  I’ve been sticking to a steady dose of out and back trail runs and my return mile splits have been about 10-20 seconds faster lately which is a good sign that I am slowly adjusting to the mileage.

I pray that everyone has a good weekend and to be mindful of the people and the world around you.  Not everyone is as fortunate.

In ten days I will be a married man!  Pretty Exciting. I am very blessed to have found someone who I love and who is beyond amazing in so many ways, I am truly blessed.

In terms of running I have been having trouble finding consistancy in my training.  When I do run I get in the mileage and hills but I have to stop missing days here and there if I am going to compete well.  Yesterday I did a 6miler and felt terrible even though in reality I was very consistant in my pace which is especially important at the end of the run.

I urge whoever is reading this to please check out www.runmarkrun.com and see what we are all about and how to help those less fortu

We had some rain here in Philadelphia over the past 24 hours and it made for an interesting run yesterday afternoon.  I did about 6 miles through the rain, through the hills, and even through the creek.  As I was running down the trail at Pennypack I came upon the Pennypack Creek fully over its embankment and so I just shrugged my shoulders and ran through about 1-2 ft. of rushing water.  Not the most intelligent thing i have ever done but it was fun!  I’m hoping today i’ll stay a little bit drier.

I pray that all of you reading this will check out two sites today or this weekend, www.runmarkrun.com and www.nwhcm.org .  These two sites will give you a good idea of what this campaign is all about.  Although a lot of things have happened around the world in the past few weeks, months, and year the people of Haiti should not be pushed back from the front page news.  A country starving, dying of preventable disease, and strugglish to hold on to hope should never be off the front page.  Check those websites out and see how you can make a difference.

Lastlyand most importantly this weekend  please pray for the people of Japan and the Pacific this weekend.  Speechless is all I can say when seeing the footage and reports coming from an area devasted by an earthquake and a tsunami.

Good Morning World!

Running has been going well did another 6 miles yesterday and fell good, those hills really are a blessing.

I wanted to take a minute and talk about this fundraising campaign.  I’ve been apart of a lot of fundraising events and teams and this one has been by far the most impressive.  The group i’m working with, and soon to be running with, are passionate and motivated.  Our passion and our motivation are directed to many things in our lives but the two that are feeding this campaign is our passion for the Lord and our passion for the Haitian people.  The Haitian people need us right now.  Yes the earthquake has been over a year ago, yes the cholera outbreak has slowed, yes final elections are upon us, yes violence has not overun the country since the arrival of ‘baby doc’ duvalier, but right now the country needs every prayer and piece and of support and help possible.  The country has struggled for a long time, and it will take a long time to heal this country but right now PENNIES CAN HELP!

By donating just a penny for every person we pass you can help feed a child, heal the sick, and supply clean water.  Read that again, read that again and realize how so little can help so much.  Haiti is not some far away place Haiti is in our backyard.  The Haitian people are our brothers and sisters and they need our help.  Please help our out in this campaign, check out webpage, www.runmarkrun.com and see how you can help with ONLY A PENNY.
